In the past, phenolic resin was generally used as the main binder for dry-type materials, and the addition amount was generally 3%-5%. However, during the firing process of dry-type materials, the phenolic resin decomposes some cresol, formaldehyde, xylenol and other components, which pollute the environment greatly, and the residual carbon after solidification easily pollutes the molten steel, which is not suitable for steels with low carbon content in smelting. Therefore, in order to explore a new way, the technicians of the new refractory plant of Inner Mongolia Baotou Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. carried out a series of experiments, and explored the choice of dry binder for tundish.

Reburnt magnesia was selected as the main raw material in this experiment, and different binders were added when the proportion of particles and fine powder was identical. The test formula (w): magnesia 5-3 mm:12%, 3-1 mm:28%, less than 1 mm:30%, mixed fine powder (alpha-Al2O3, CaCO3) 0.074 mm: 20%-30%. There are five ways to add the binder: (1) metasilicate, phosphate and borate, adding 6%; (2) adding metasilicate alone, adding 5%; (3) adding metasilicate, adding 6%; (4) increasing the amount of composite binder to 9%; (5) phenolic resin, adding. The amount is 5%. The raw materials were mixed according to the formula and stamped in 40 mm *40 mm *160 mm mould. After drying at 200 3 h, the samples were demoulded and sintered at 1 100 3 h and 1 550 3 h, respectively.
